Overnight surfacing improvements on A96 at Pitmachie in Aberdeenshire begin Sunday 18th May

Amey is undertaking overnight surfacing improvements on the A96 at Pitmachie in Aberdeenshire between Sunday 18th May and Saturday 31st May.

The £320,000 scheme, which Amey is undertaking on behalf of Transport Scotland, will resurface approximately 480 metres of the A96 between the Oyne/Daies Junction and 150 metres north of Lawrence Road.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists the essential maintenance will be carried out under four nights of overnight road closures, with a five night break, followed by four nights of overnight convoy.

The overnighroad closures will in place from Sunday 18th May to Wednesday 21st May between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with traffic management scheduled to be removed by 6.30am on Thursday 22nd May. The following diversions will be in place.

Southbound traffic can leave the A96 at Colpy, turning left onto the A920 and following the route to Wartle where they can turn right onto the B9001 and continue to Inverurie. At Inverurie southbound traffic can then take the second exit at the roundabout onto Burghmuir Drive, and then the third exit at the next roundabout onto the B9170, to rejoin the A96 southbound. Northbound traffic can take the route in reverse.

Lawrence Road will also be closed and traffic should take alternative local routes.

There will be no traffic management in place overnight between Thursday 22nd May and Monday 26th May.

There will then be overnight convoy working from Tuesday 27th May to Friday 30th May between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with all work scheduled to be completed by 6.30am on Saturday 31st May.

The improvements will benefit more than 7,600 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
